A three-letter word has to reach nine. Each leg adds one letter and rearranges the lot, and nothing is ever put down. 1 to 8 people, about 12 minutes.
Nobody loses. It is the table against a word list, which makes it the easy one to run with people who do not know each other yet — there is no moment where somebody has to be beaten in front of colleagues.
The person on the baton types and everybody else shouts, so a table of six is six people looking at the same problem rather than five waiting for a turn. It is the rare word game that is louder than it is quiet.
It is also the daily. One climb, one chair, one puzzle a day, and the same three letters for everybody — which is what makes it something to open on a Tuesday when there is nobody about to play with.
